Sophie Hartley
Sophie began her training at The Saxtead School of Dance in Suffolk, whilst additionally attending Associate classes at the Royal Ballet School. She then completed her training at Central School of Ballet graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Dance and Performance. Whilst at Central, Sophie performed with the Kirov Ballet in their production of The Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Opera House, and spent her third year touring the UK with Ballet Central.
Upon graduating in July 2010 Sophie worked at Disneyland Paris for a year, dancing in the shows and parades. Whilst in Paris Sophie entered the Concours International de danse de Biarritz in which she was a finalist, dancing the Le Corsaire pas de deux. Sophie left Disney to perform as a member of the corps de ballet in the Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary performances at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2011. She then joined the West End cast of The Snowman, playing the parts of the Ice Princess and Music Box Ballerina at The Peacock Theatre, London. Sophie then performed with the UK tour of Phantom from January 2012 to May 2013. Immediately following the 15month tour Sophie joined The English National Ballet to perform in a season of Swan Lake In The Round at the Royal Albert Hall. In early 2014 she was asked to work with Ballet Black in creating the role of Anna in a ballet production of the book “Dogs Don’t Do Ballet”. This work was made especially enjoyable as she was once again working with Kanika Carr a friend through schooldays, Saxtead School Of Dance and on to Central School Of Ballet!
In December 2014 Sophie will again join the West End Cast & Tour of The Snowman.
Emily Cordy
I first began my love affair of dancing at the tender age of 2 years old, going to train in ballet; modern tap and jazz.
I spent 14 years training at the Saxted School of Dance where I achieved my Intermediate Modern and Advanced foundation ballet RAD. Then, at age 16, I received a placement at Preston College on their Professional Dancers and Teachers of Dance course, where I went on to study for the next 3 years.
During my time at college I took part in a variety of performances from Children in Need, to performing at Move It, in London. I graduated from Preston College in 2013 receiving a DDE in Modern and Ballet and a DDI in National - I have also achieved Advanced 2 Ballet ISTD, and Advanced 1 Ballet RAD. All of which is a great achievement and something I knew I was meant to share - which led me to my next step, teaching dance.
This is something that I found came naturally to me and over the years I realised this is where my future was heading - sharing my knowledge of dance. In fact, I found teaching this artistic forum to others the most fulfilling and rewarding career, and luckily for me, it's my hobby, my passion and my life!
Kanika Carr
Of British and Trinidadian parents and born in Baltimore, Kanika began dancing when she moved to England at the age of five, attending the Saxtead School of Dance, and as a participant on the Scholarship Scheme with Dance East. In 2007, Kanika went on to train at the Central School of Ballet. In her final year with Ballet Central, she worked with choreographers including Christopher Marney, Kit Holder and Christopher Bruce and upon graduating, joined Ballet Black to become one of the first Company Apprentices in 2010. Kanika was promoted to Junior Artist in 2012 and has danced in works by Martin Lawrance, Jonathan Goddard and Henri Oguike and danced the role of a Fury in Will Tuckett’s Orpheus.
